I am a graduate student in the process of completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University, and my goal is to progress in a career as a psychotherapist that impacts individuals positively. I look forward to my practicum experience with clients, allowing me to exercise my individuality and passion in applying my Master's education in therapy. While working on my Bachelor's in Sociology, I had the opportunity to connect with a diverse group of individuals who have inspired me to continue my education and advocate for social justice. My seven years of non-profit work experience have allowed me to assist vulnerable populations of the community; I have worked with homeless individuals requiring banking assistance, mentally challenged individuals needing financial assistance, incarcerated individuals requiring release planning, male parolees at a halfway house, at-risk youth through harm reduction supportive living and children under group care. I have always had a passion for working with individuals who are structurally disadvantaged in society, as I believe all individuals carry self-actualizing abilities worthy of respect and dignity. I strive to assist individuals in understanding their psychological concerns and changing their lives for the better.
My therapeutic outlook stems from humanistic theories with a client-centred approach integrating holistic therapeutic methods that best-fit clients' unique and individual needs.
I am open to working with diverse adult populations while completing my Master's. After graduation, I will be interested in assisting children/youth through Play Therapy.
